Read the following passage and answer the questions given below:
Once upon a time, two farmers: Mr Ant and Mr Grasshopper, lived in the same village near the sea in Greece. They were very good friends, but, as you will see, they were very different people. Mr Ant was a very serious, hard-working person. He got up very early in the morning, ate a small breakfast, and then started working on his farm. He worked very hard all day under the hot summer sun. He planted many crops and looked after them carefully. “I like to water my crops every day,” he told his friend. Mr. Garsshopper. “And as soon as they’re ready, I like to collect them quickly and put them safely in my house.” Don’t you ever stop working?” asked Mr. Grasshopper. “When do you eat?” “Oh, I just stop working, eat very quickly, and then start working again, “Mr Ant replied. I don’t like to waste any time.” “But there’s plenty of time!” exclaimed Mr Grasshpper. “What’s the hurry? Look at me. Sometimes it’s sunny. Sometimes it rains. Let the sun and the rain take care of your crops. Why Work? Take a holiday! Enjoy yourself, my friend!”

All kind of books euch as books on Literature, History, Law, Religion, Etc. are written mainly in English . Beside, most of advanced books for higher studies are written in English.
To get good opportunities
All the international communication is made through English. Many business firms want people who have a good command of English. So, by learning English we can get the opportunities of employment and better salaries.
As a global language
Now, English has got the status of the global language. English is spoken throught the world. If any nation does not learn English it will lag behind in all respects.

6.One day a wolf came to a stream for a drink and found a beautiful lamb drinking from the same stream.( a short story )  The wolf thought of killing the lamb and eating its flesh. So he began to pick a quarrel with the lamb.( a short story )  He shouted, ‘’You rogue, how dare you make the water dirty for me?’’ The lamb began to tremble in fear. He said, ‘’Excuse me, sir, how can I make the water dirty for you? You are drinking upstream and I am drinking downstream. ‘’ The wolf could say nothing to that but shouted, ‘’Oh, I remember, you called me bad names last year about this time.’’ ‘’How can that be, sir?’’ said the lamb mildly ‘’I was not even born then’’.( a short story )  but the wolf paid no heed to his reply.( a short story )  He growled angrily. ‘’Then it must have been your father. And it makes no difference whether it was you or your father.’’ ( a short story ) So saying, he jumped upon the poor lamb and ate him up.

7. Read the text and answer the following questions –
Ahsan Habib, poet and Journalist, was born on 2 February 1917 in the village of Shankarpasha in pirojpur district. After passing the Entracne examination in 1935 from pirojpur Government School, he enrolled at the B M College, Barisal, but had to leave further education because of financial difficulties.He worked in different newspapers named “ the Takbir” “the Bulbul” “the Saogat”  “the Daily Azad” “the Monthly Mohammadi” “the Daily Ittehad’ etc. His important books are Ratrishese Chhaya Horin, Shara Dupur, Duhate Dui adim pathar etc. He received several awards for his litracy achivments, among UNESCO Literacy Prize, the Bangla Academy Award Adamjee litracy Prize, Ekusy Padak etc.  Ahsan  Habib died Dhaka on 10 July 1985.
Mir Mosarraf Hossain, Novelist, Playwright and essayist, was born at Lahirpur, in the district of Kustia on 13 November 1847. His Father Mir Moazzem Hossain was a Zamindar. He began his formal education at Kustia School and their studied upto class v at Krisnogar Collegiate School. He was pioneer among ninteeth –century Bengali Muslim writers. Bisad Shindhu, which narrates the tragic tale of the battle of Karbala, is considered to be his masterpiece . His other important works are Gauri-Setu, Basunakumari, Zaminder Darpan, Gazi Miyer Bastami ect. He died in 1912.
